| October 2004 | Member of the Global Reporting Initiative In October 2004, Bayer is the first German chemical company to become an organizational stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a partner organization of the United Nations. The aim of this international cooperation is to establish globally accepted guidelines on sustainability reporting. Bayer continuously refines its own reporting on sustainability in line with the GRI standards. |
| October 2004 | Award for water protection For its exemplary performance in water protection, the Baytown site in Texas (United States) is awarded the “Industrial Water Quality Achievement Award” in October 2004 by the Water Environment Federation (WEF). |
